내가 감사함은 ( I am thankful…..)

2010년도 감사주일을 당해서 하나님의 말씀을 묵상할 때 하나님께서 우리 모두에게 크신 은혜를 베풀어 주시기 바랍니다. AS we study/meditate His words on this Thanksgiving celebration Sunday, May God’s grace pour out on us abundantly.
가을은 감사의 계절입니다. Fall is season of thanksgiving 성경에는 “감사하라” “감사합니다.”라는 말씀이 많이 나옵니다. In the Bible, we find many places telling us to be thankful or to give thanks. “범사에 감사하라.” Give thanks in all circumstances ‘마음에 감사함으로 하나님을 찬양하라.” Praise God with heart of thanksgiving 골로세서 2장 7절에는 “믿음에 굳게 서서 감사함이 넘치게하라.”고 하셨습니다. Colossians 2:7 tells us “strengthened in the faith and overflowing with thanksgiving.
시편의 기자들이나 성경의 기록자들은 하나님께 감사한 마음으로 가득찼던 분들이었습니다. Psalmists and bible writers were full of thanksgiving. 특히 사도 바울은 하나님의 크신 은혜를 받고 늘 감사한 마음으로 일하신 분입니다. Especially Apostle Paul served God with the heart of thanksgiving once He experienced the Grace of God.
첫째로, 사도 바울이 감사한 이유가 어디에 있을까요? First, let us think about why Apostle Paul was so thankful.
하나님의 말씀인 본문 12,13절을 보십시오. We us look at today’s word verses 12 and 13.
“나는 나에게 능력을 수신 우리주 그리스도 예수께 감사를 드립니다. 주님께서 나를 신실하게 여기셔서, 나에게 이 직분을 맡겨 주셨습니다. 전에는 내가 훼방자요 박해자였습니다. 그러나 그러한 행동은 내가 믿지않을 때에 알지 못하고 한 것이므로, 하나님께서 나에게 자비를 베풀어주셨습니다.”라고 하셨습니다. I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.
여기서 우리는 사도 바울의 감사의 마음의 원천이 어디 있는가를 찾아 볼 수 있습니다. Here we can find where Apostle Paul’s thankfulness originated from. 예수님을 알지 못했을 때 훼방자요, 폭행자요, 핍박자로 살았습니다. When he did not know Jesus he was a blasphemer, a persecutor and a violent man
15절 말씀을 보면, “나는 죄인의 괴수(우두머리)라고 했습니다. In verse 15, he mentions that he was the worst sinner. 그러나 예수님은 그를 찾아 오셔서 만나 주셨습니다. But Jesus came to meet this worst sinner named Paul. 그의 모든 죄를 사해 주셨습니다. And he forgave all of his sins. 그를 충성되이 여기셔서 주님을 섬기는 직분을맡기셨습니다. He considered him faithful and appointed him to serve Him. 그뿐만이 아닙니다. 그 직분을 감당할 수 있는 능력까지 주셨습니다. But that was not all; he also gave him the strength to carry his work.
사도 바울은 자신을 하나님이 베풀어 주신 은혜의 거울 앞에서 자신을 보았습니다.Apostle Paul saw himself through the mirror of God’s Grace that poured out abundantly on him.
그가 성취한 많은 일도 하나님이 주신 능력의 은혜 앞에서 보았습니다. All the Work he had accomplished, he knew it was possible because of the strength from God that had been given to him 그는 자신이 주님의 무한하신 은혜와 용서를 잊지 않은 겸손한 분이셨습니다. He always humbled himself before the unfailing God’s Grace and forgiveness그는 늘 하나님의 은혜에 감격한 마음에서 감사함이 넘쳤습니다. He was always overflowing with thanksgiving because of God’s grace.
이것은 사도 바울만이 아닐 것입니다. This was not happening just to Paul.주님을 구주로 믿고 사는 모든 성도들의 공통적인 체험이기도 합니다. Experiencing the overflowing of thanksgiving is for all those who believe in God. 진정한 감사가 어디에서 나옵니까? Where does true thanksgiving come from?하나님께서 나같은 죄인을 사랑하셔서 자녀 삼아 주신 은혜를 생각하는 겸손한 마음에서 옵니다. It comes from experiencing God’s Grace for loving sinners like us to make us the children of God. 그리고 나 같은 죄인을 의롭다고 여기시고, 능력을 주셔서 하나님의 사람으로 사용하신 것에 대한 마음에서 감사가 나옵니다. I cannot help but be thankful that He considers me righteous and gives me the strength/power to be used by God.
주님의 공동체의 일원이 되어 예배하고 교제하고 주님을 섬길 수 있는 기회 주심에 감사합니다. 그렇습니다! 감사와 감격은 은혜 주심에 대한 감사의 마음 밭에서 자라나고 열매 맺습니다. Not only that but also He makes me a part of this God’s body Bethany Church to have fellowship, to worship and to serve. Yes it is true. True thankfulness and transformation is the fruit that come from the seed planted and nurtured in the garden of God’s love.
반면에 교만한 사람은 하나님의 은혜를 멸시합니다. Contrary to that , people that are arrogant , full of pride, laugh at God’s grace 죄와 허물을 보지 못합니다. They cannot see their sins and iniquity 하나님께 감사하지 않습니다. They are not thankful to God. 로마서 1장 21절을 보면 “사람들은 하나님을 알면서도, 하나님을 영화롭게 해 드리거자 감사하지 않는다.”고 하셨습니다. Romans 1:21 tells us that “For although they knew God, they neither gloried Him as God nor gave thanks to him.”
이 감사 주일에 우리들이 진심으로 하나님께 감사드릴 수 있으려면, On this thanksgiving Sunday, if we were to truly give thanks to him,
하나님이 우리 한 사람 한 사람에게 베풀어 주신 구원의 은혜에 감사하는 겸손함이 있어야 하겠습니다. Each one of us needs to humble ourselves and be thankful before God’s gracious salvation. 이런 하나님의 은혜에 대한 진정한 감사가 있습니까? Please ask yourselves, “Are you truly thankful for His Grace?”
둘째로, 사도 바울의 감사는 그의 삶을 어떻게 살게 했습니까? Secondly, “How did Apostle Paul live his life in response to his thankfulness to God?”
사도 바울은 “나의 나 된 것은 하나님의 은혜라.”고 했습니다. I am who I am by the grace of. 그는 그리스도 예수를 통하여 구원해 주신 은혜를 잊을 수가 없었습니다. He could not forget the Grace of God that had given him salvation through Christ Jesus. 한 마디로 말해서 주님께 온전히 헌신 된 일생을 살았습니다. Simply he gave his life to Jesus. 자신이 받은 바 구원의 은혜를 만방에 증거하는 증인으로 He lived to proclaim the saving Grace he had experienced when he was the worst of all sinners to the people world over. 살았습니다. 3차에 걸친 험난한 전도 여행을 했습니다. He went on 3 challenging missionary trips.
하나님의 말씀인 고린도 후서 11장 23절 이하를 보면, 그는 매맞음과 헐벗음과 배 곺음과 옥살이를 했어도 남에게 자랑하지 않았습니다. According to God’s Word II Cor. 11:23, he was severely beaten, naked, hungry, been in prison, but he did not boast. 그는 그리스도 예수를 자랑했습니다. He only boasted about Christ Jesus. 약한 가운데서 이기게 하신 하나님의 능력 주심을 자랑했습니다. He boasted about God’s strength in his weaknesses.
로마서 5장 3절에서 “나는 환난을 자랑한다.”고 까지 말씀하셨습니다. In Romans 5:3, he says he rejoice in his sufferings.
진정한 마음의 감사는 헌신하게 합니다. 행동하게 합니다. True thankful heart makes us lay our lives down before him. Make us take actions.
가령 가정에서 부모님께 감사하는 자녀는 부모님을 위한 수고를 마다 하지 않습니다. AT home when we are thankful to our parents, we do not turn away from doing things for our parents. 학교에서 선생님과 학교에 감사한 학생은 공부도 열심히 하고, 또 학교의 여러가지 일들에 협력합니다. In schools, when we are thankful for the school and teachers, we study hard, 회사에 근무하면서 일할 자리가 있음에 감사하는 직원은 힘든 일도 마다하지 않습니다. If we are thankful for our jobs, we would not say no to the challenging/difficult works. 국가가 있음에 감사한 사람은 국민으로서의 의무와 책임을 감당할 때 따르는어려움을 묵묵히 견딥니다.When we are thankful for our country, we keep our duties and responsibilities as citizens even in difficult times.
반면에. 부모의 은혜를 모르면 효자 효녀가 될 수 있을까요? If we are not thankful for our parents, would it be possible for us to be good sons/daughters? 선생님께 감사하지 않는 학생이 모범적인 학교 생활을 할수 있을가요? If we are not thankful for teachers, can we be good students? 회사에 다니면서 불평 불만만 하는 사람이 모범 사원이 될까요? If we are not thankful for our jobs, can we be exemplary/dedicated workers? 주님의 은혜를 모르거나 망각한 신자의 삶이 헌신적일 수 있을까요?If we are not thankful for God’s grace, can we lay our lives before Him?
로마의 유명한 문인이었던 키케로는 말하기를 “감사한 마음은 최고의 덕일 뿐만 아니라 모든 덕의 어머니가 된다.”고 까지 말했습니다. According to Well known Roman philosopher Marcus Cicero, “gratitude is not only highest virtue, it also is mother of all virtues?
여러분! Everyone
우리의 믿음이 얼마나 되는 가를 아시고 싶으십니까? 그렇게 복잡하지 않습니다. Do you want to know how much faith you have? It is not that complicated to know.
주님의 은혜 감사해서 어떻게 헌신하고 사는가를 점검해 보시면 됩니다. Just check to see how thankful you are for God’s grace and how dedicated and devoted your life is before God. 얼마만큼 자기를 부인하고 자기 십자가를 지고 주님과 함께 동행하시는가를 평가해 보시면 됩니다. Test to see how much you deny yourself and take up his cross to walk with God. 주님이 주신 사랑의 계명과 전파의 명령에 얼마만큼 헌신되어 있는가가 감사한 생활의 척도입니다. Seeing how dedicated you are to spread Greatest Commandment would be an indicator of how thankful you are to God. 진정으로 주님의 은혜와 능력 주심에 감사한 신자는 주님을 위한 헌신과 A believer that is truly thankful for God’s grace and power, he/she would dedicated one’s life to God and rejoice in sufferings. 어려움을 기뻐 합니다. 감사절을 하나님이 주신 은혜가 어떻게 삶에 나타나고 있는가를 점검해야 하는 절기입니다. Thanksgivings season is a time for us to think about how God’s grace is shown in our lives.
셋째로, 하나님의 은혜에 감사하여 헌신한 사도 바울의 삶의 열매는 무엇일까요? Thirdly, what were the fruits of Apostle Paul’s thankfulness to God’s Grace?
그는 자신을 “만삭되어 나지 못한 자 같다.”고 했습니다. “사도들 가운데서 가장 작은 자.”라고도 했습니다. He called himself , born not in full term, and least among disciples 에베소서 3장 8절에서는 “하나님께서 모든 성도 가운데서 지극히 작은 자 보다 더 작은 나에게 은혜를 주셔서, 그리스도의 헤아릴 수 없는 부요함을 이방 사람들에게 전하게 하셨다.”고 하셨습니다. In Ephesians chapter 3 and verse 8, I am least of all God’s people, this grace was given me; to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ. 그러나 사실은 하나님이 귀하에 쓰신 큰 일꾼이셨습니다. But in truth, he was God’s faithful worker.
그는 전도 여행을 하면서, 또는 옥중에서 그가 개척한 교회들에게 편지를 보냈습니다. Paul sent letters to churches even during mission trips and in prison혹은 개인에게 편지를 보내기도 했습니다. He sent letter to individuals also.우리가 갖고 있는 신약 성경 가운데서 교회 서신 9권을 그가 쓴 것입니다. In New Testament, Paul wrote 9 letters to churches사도 바울을 통하여 지도자가 된 분들에게 4권의 목회서신 디모데 전, 후서. 디도서. 그리고 빌레몬서를 써 보냈습니다. He also wrote 4 letters I and II Timothy, Titus and Philemon to whom who became church leaders through Paul. 그의 주님에 대한 감사에 따른 헌신을 통하여 하나님은 사도 바울을 귀하게 사용하셨습니다. God used Paul because Paul was dedicated his live to Him because he was thankful to God. 오늘 우리가 묵상하는 본문 말씀도 사도 바울이 성령님의 감동하심을 받아 기록한 하나님의 말씀입니다. Today’s message is also what Paul wrote through inspiration from Holy Spirit.
감사의 마음과 헌신된 삶에 하나님은 복음의 계시를 더욱 분명하게 깨닫게 하시고 기록하여 성경으로 남도록 하시는 복을 주셨습니다. Thankful heart and dedicating life to God helped Paul clearly see God’s Gospel and blessed him to write bible. 사도 바울이 하나님의 은혜를 감사하고 복음에 헌신한 결과 아시아와 유럽에 편만히 복음이 증거되고 많은 교회들이 서게 되었습니다. Because Apostle Paul was thankful to God’s grace and was able to dedicate his life for God, Gospel was heard and many churches were open in Asia and Europe. 자신이 온전히 헌신함으로 인하여 삼십배, 육십배, 백 배 아니, 수 천만배의 열매를 남기셨습니다. Paul’s complete dedication God yield 30, 60, 100 fold and bore thousands of fruits.
한국 장로교 교회사를 보면, 선교사님들이 선교하여 한국 교회가 서게 되었습니다. 교회들이 많지 않을 때에였습니다. When we look at history of Korean Presbyterian Church, due to many missionaries, we were able to form Korean churches. 그땅시 교회들이 감사절이 되면 하나님께서 복음을 이 땅에 전파하게 하셔서 새 생명 받았음에 감사해서 헌금을 했습니다. During earlier times, during thanksgiving celebration, church members donated money for the purpose of spreading God’s word. 이 감사절 헌금을 총회로 보내서 중국과 쏘련 만주에 선교사를 보내는 기금으로 썼습니다.Thanksgiving offerings were sent to central office to be sent to China and Russia for the great commission. 구 한말의 혼란과 가난에 찌들인 때였습니다. This was when Korea was experiencing the last and desperate sting of the Japanese occupation.그리고 일제의 압제 아래에서 환난은 극심했습니다. 그런 중에도 하나님의 은혜에 감사해서 국내에서 전도할 뿐만 아니라 다른 나라에 선교사를 파송했습니다. Under the Japanese occupation of Korea, the persecution of Christians were extremely severe. Even during these difficult times, believers in Korea persevered to spread the good news of Gospel not only to the nave Koreans but to the foreigners outside of the Country.
성도 여러분! Dear brothers and sisters
우리들이 하나님의 은혜에 감사해서 헌신하면 분명한 열매가 있을 것입니다. If we are thankful to God’s grace and dedicate our lives to God, we will bear fruit.
하나님의 나라가 흥왕합니다. God’s kingdom come. 하나님이 영광 받으십니다. God would be glorified 하나님의 사람들이 자라날 것입니다. God’s people will mature 여러분이 그리스도 편지와 대사와 향기가 되어 많은 열매를 맺으실 것입니다. You will bear much fruit as you yourselves become the letter, the ambassador and the aroma of Jesus Christ. 구약 다니엘서 12장 3절 하반절을
보면 “많은 사람을 옳은 길로 인도한 사람은 별처럼 영원히 빛날 것”이라고 하셨습니다. Daniel 12:3, second half, those who lead many to righteousness, will shine like the stars forever and ever.
* 진정으로 우리는 통회 자복함으로 예수 그리스도를 통하여 주신 하나님의 용서를 받으셨습니까? Did you truly confess your sins and experience the forgiveness through Jesus Christ? 정말로 영원한 생명을 값 없이 주신 것을 감사하십니까? Are you truly thankful for the eternal life that is given to you freely?
* 우리의 감사가 어떻게 삶으로 나타납니까? 잠시 생각이나 말로만 끝나지는 않습니까? How does our gratefulness manifest itself in our lives? “Does it appear only in passing thoughts or in empty words?”
* 그리고, 하나님의 영광을 위해 많은 열매를 맺고 사시다가 영광의 나라에서 주님께서 “착하고 충성된 종”이라는 칭찬을 받으시지 않으시겠습니까? Wouldn’t you like to be praise by Jesus and hear him say, “well done my good and faithful servant?”when you meet him in the glorious dwelling.
오래 전에 살던 어떤 성자는 이렇게 기도했다고 합니다. “주여! 저에게 많은 은혜를 주셨습니다. 그런데 제게 한 가지 은혜를 더 주시옵소서. 감사한 마음을 주옵소서.” A saint once prayed the following prayer a long time ago, “ Dear Jesus, you have granted/given me much grace, please grant me one more. Please give me thankful heart.
우리도 이런 기도를 드렸으면 좋겠습니다, “주여! 감사한 마음을 주심에 또한 감사합니다. 그 위에 헌신하는 삶을 주시옵소서. 그래서 하나님이 영광받으시옵소서”라고 말입니다. I wish we too give this prayer “ Dear Jesus, thank you for giving me a thankful heart. Please grant me a life dedicated to you and let you be glorified through my life.
