Essay 41 – To Brother K -1-

Brother K!
How have you been?
I still remember seeing you working hard to achieve your goals and dreams in truth and seriousness.
Compared to you, I had many mistakes but I remember I had the courage to tell you of my faith in Christianity many times. I still remember of it to this day.
After hearing my story quietly and seriously, when you gave me a short answer I was bit surprised. I remember at that time, “A person just had to in their given nature what is their utmost and live truthfully? Also can one say ‘I am a Christian and that will be true’ and really think that way? I can think of many.” At that time my face was turning red because I knew I was one of those people, and it was true.
Brother K!
As you have said, many people use the name of Jesus in vain, and some even to gain fame and power in the name of Christianity. Some have cursed and fought instead of love, and in the name of faith, some even have done immoral, unethical acts to shame the church in its history.
I read a book recently and there was this writing. According to Immanuel Kant, the final question that connects a human’s interests is:
Firstly, “What can I know?” Question of Truth,
Secondly, “What is that I have to do?” Question of Standards
Lastly, “What can I wish for?” Question of Meanings
Like these mentioned above, even if that is not the summary, the reason why I followed and believe in Jesus Christ is those questions and their answers I can find in the Bible.
After graduating high school, I was insecure with my life, knowledge, and all sorts of fear, guilt, and of unclear future. I was unable to find out where I was heading. I was living in the vacuum of meaning and meaningless, existing and non-existing and was wandering around like a boat without a sail, worrying about future of my life.
Brother, now I will tell you why I respect Jesus Christ so much and why I am able to give all my life to him.
Jesus was not a theologian, nor was he a chief priest, and was not a revolutionary. He was not a populist, but nor was he very popular with people. He did not follow the Pharisees and reproached them, nor did he follow the path of living a communion life of the monks. He was also opposed of the Zealots who wanted freedom for the Roman Empire. But his goal in teaching was neither to social reform nor to start establishing a new tradition or new standards.
So what were his teachings and his goal of life was about?
One theologian points out, “Jesus Christ’s work is the work of God in the world.”
Following his teachings, the kingdom of God is not formed by the culture’s advancement (technological, mental) nor is through revolution (Capitalism or Communism), but through God’s work. Human nature is not of just material but of spirit as well, in God’s realm, the past, present and the future can be all completed. This transcending dimension is not opened by one’s effort, education or act of kindness but through Jesus who had become human (who was of supernatural), and to confess that he is our only solution, and the apostles taught that to everyone. Jesus himself even said that many times. That is why those who are followers of Jesus Christ must give the ultimate decision. Through Jesus Christ, the existence of God is visible and to be devoted to him.
Christians use the word “repent” very familiarly. Repentance is the ultimate choice, to re-evaluate my life in Jesus Christ, to have a new attitude and life, and to empty myself for the work of God. When I heard the sermon centered on John 3:16, I was not able to repent another time. I was finally able to understand the verse “Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” (Matthew 10:39)
Brother K,
I pray and hope dearly that whatever bad things happening in your life, instead of despair, in Christ Jesus is in triumph to return, and not to push it to another time. If you look at John 1:12, “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” There is nothing that we have to deserve. Knowing you will die some day; people still push the non-ending glory day by day, and many people I know have done that.
Brother K,
You can now pray that the Lord would come into you. You can finally have the purpose, power and peace, and hope as a child of God
Please pray like thusly:
“Lord, I welcome Jesus Christ into my heart. Forgive me of my sins, for you will now lead my life on.”
If I have lost some of my courtesy on this letter, or of any uncertain parts of the letter, please understand them.
I will await your reply.
Good tidings.
