Overcoming Nihilism
Ecclesiastes 1:2
How does a contemporary human overcome the emptiness of nihilism?
Is there such thing that can fill the emptiness?
Many people try to avoid and run away from the emptiness.
Some do not admit of the void, and some even focus on other things to look away from the emptiness.
As such, we try to look at the emptiness inside us as if is none-existing or try to fill it with hedonistic feelings.
Jesus does not overlook at the mental problems that we are facing or try to avoid them.
Therefore, in Christianity we must admit of the void, and look for the solution to get out of it. What are the solution and the way out? It is the courage to have faith. Even thought there are so many tribulations and hardships in life, but faith gives us the courage to overcome them. Through faith, are able to see our foundation of existence that was once covered by circumstances / emptiness. When we have faith, we find out existence once again. This discovery helps recover the previous existence and from void to hope, from being skeptic to trustful and courageous person.
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter; Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of mankind.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
