Happy Birthday (4)
Happy Birthday (4)

There was a phone call around 3PM in the afternoon. When I picked up, I couldn’t really tell if they were screaming, or singing, but it was the “happy birthday” song. When I listened closer, it was my grandson and granddaughter from Ohio. Since the last twins were little over 3 years old, their tuning wouldn’t be the best, so they just shouted it out. After that, Jusun (10 years old) solemnly wished me a happy birthday. My daughter in law and I had chatted on the phone and had a good time. The children got sick from the cold weather for several days, but they got better and today, they were outside playing with the snow.

Previously mentioned on chapter 18, my son and daughter know my birthday as the 3rd of March. Yesterday my son who is in Arizona on a business trip called. I think he called his children in Ohio to tell them of my birthday, and to celebrate. I give thanks to God that from my children they brought me 7 grandchildren total.

The more you age, there is much more difficulty staying healthy. I still walk diligently every day. But just walking won’t toughen up my muscles from 25 years of experience. Even if I do visit the gym and exercise, I probably won’t have much like the younger people. I wouldn’t even dare try lifting a dumbbell from the 2nd floor, nor did I want to strain or from doing nothing. I had thought many things about this.

As I push to 70, I planned ahead how I was going to live healthy. I bought some wearable equipment from the sports store. Both the arms now have a 2lb weight on each arm, totaling 4lbs. After putting them on my arm, I tried to swing my arm like the honor guard, but it was too much. But from doing it persistently, my arm now swings somewhat. In order to have the same weight on my arms and legs, I bought four more of the 1.5lb dumbbells the day before my birthday. In order to improve my health, I had added 6 lbs of wearable weights. After placing the new weights to my legs, and attaching the new ones to my arm, I tried to walk first time on the 28th of February, it was difficult and heavy. About 10 years ago, my doctor told me to shed some weight, and I had lost 30lbs in a year.6 lbs are this much heavy, how was I able to walk with that much weight?
As you get older, the amount of exercise decreases, and so does the amount of muscles and cells in the body. There isn’t a way to stop this, but with the right exercise and habits, it can be slowed down. After putting on the extra 6 lbs, I measured my thigh to see how much the difference is going to be. I will measure it yearly in and out. I think it’s important to be the steward of your body that God gave to me. He is the owner of my life, and to use it well, and taking care of it well is one of the things I have to remember.

As I live in the age of 70s, I remembered to be a good steward to several things:

1.      Steward of time
2.      Steward of sharing
3.      Steward of gifts that God gave
4.      Steward of loving God, and neighbors
5.      Steward of living holy
6.      Steward of constructing better character
7.      Steward of being the right leader.

I think it’s time that I would prepare that when God calls me, I would answer. I have had many of near-death experiences throughout my life, and I give thanks to God that even through the hardships, I had lived 70 years as a child of God.
