Changes
(3 John 2)
On the 15th of March, I had moved from the 2nd floor of my office which I had used for few years to the 1st floor. It was only a story’s difference, but so many things were different. The look outside the window had changed. There were many green trees, and houses nearby had many flowers of different colors. There were many cars in the parking lot in front, with many other cars driving around nearby in the main road. The biggest positive in moving to the first floor was the floor was made of concrete so it was nice and cool. It would be the best place to be working during the summer times.
From March 7th to the 15th, I had headed to Colorado Springs where the C&MA headquarters are located, and had a superintendant’s meeting there. There were 5 new reverends that had joined and started working as superintendants. They were all younger than the previous superintendants. There were many challenges received along with grace. There was a chart of the last 10 years of the changes happening during the C&MA growth. In the Korean District, 1992 Korean attendees were 3,495. But in 2001, there were 7,421! In 10 years there was about 112.33% increase in the attendance. It was a proof that God had loved the Korean District to grow in its size. In the process, God had used many faithful pastors to grow in the churches. When I saw the report in 2002, about 600 members had increased to 8,000.
When the amount of how much offering was collected in 2001 was 9.5 million dollars. But in 2002, there was little over 10 million in total offerings! Seeing the increase in membership in Korean District, along with the increase of revenue was blessing upon more blessings! Last year, the Great Commissioning Fund for the America District was 9.6% of the expected amount. The districted prayed for it to be 10% and had encouraged them. The Korea District on the other hand was only about 1%.But thanks to the efforts of many; it had increased to 24%! The most surprising was that in the January of 2003, it had increased by 80% compared to the last year. I give thanks that everyone had not only supported the missionaries in their own associated churches, but to the whole district as well.
In the survey done by the C&MA, the Korean District had about 43 churches planted in the last 10 years, but there are currently only 61 churches of this ministry. Either the Korean District had many more joined in, or some had transferred away, or had unfortunately died out. One thing certain, the enthusiasm of church is 2nd to the Haitian District in the church planting ministry.
About 2 weeks ago, I had written a letter of supporting to have smoother operation within the Korean District. 3 new churches had responded positively and I thank you.
I look forward for the next 10 years in the Korea District. If all the churches within the district and its surroundings cooperate, the Korean District will become mature and changed very much.
Since there are many churches being planted every year, it is estimated that over 100 churches would be within the C&MA Korean District. The amount of members would also double and increase to 16,000 members and I look forward for that day. The Korean District churches would grow into healthy churches and continue to expand. I pray that the Great Commissioning Fund would overflow and that over 20 missionaries would be sent throughout each of the associated churches. I also pray that there would be much increase in the 1.5 / 2nd generation of church members. Finally, I wish to see that the accumulation of retirement funds would be effective for the retiring reverends.
As the wishful spring starts, I wish and pray that every associated pastor would have a fruitful, wonderful, and peaceful growth within their churches, in serving the families. I will now end the writing with 3John verse 2:
