Kodi Lee (You have Changed the World!)
Kodi Lee (You have Changed the World!)

Every year there are many popular T.V. programs that are run yearly around. One of them is called “America Got Talent”. Every morning I open Youtube to listen to World Vision’s children choir division sing “God’s Grace” when I noticed a title called “Golden Buzzer: Kodi Lee Wows You With A Historical Music Moment!” got my attention.

After listening to the hymn, I decided to watch this exciting program. A young man came into the stage holding a cane for the blind (a white cane with red tape) with the support with his mother.

The judges asked what name, his age, and what he will be performing today, the performer as if having slight problem understanding after 2-3 seconds of delay answered in an odd tone of voice.

His mother was questioned about him and she said he is blind and has autism. Despite being in this condition, he had a special talent for music – and that he is paving his own path.

When the judges asked Kodi again, he said he is 22 and when asked what he will do, he said he would play the piano and sing. Everyone looked quite doubtful.

Finally he was led to a piano from his mother and upon sitting down, he collected his breathe and opened his mouth and started to sing his heart out while playing the piano. Many people including the judges who were watching – their reaction immediately had changed to awestruck. Some even were in tears from the amazing performance.

After finishing his performance, everyone was clapping like a thunder, and acknowledging the claps, Kodi also started to clap together in happiness. When his mother came back to stand for the judges – it is simply impossible to write down all their praises. His passion in his heart and his well-polished style was praised over and over again.

The one I will never forget is the praise from Simon which was very touching.
He said “Amazing! Amazing! Your performance I will never forget!” in a strong tone of voice. He is usually very cold, and stern about his judging skills – even shown to have the crowd boo at times.

Perhaps Kodi is half-Korean? Seeing his last name and seeing that his father is Korean and the mother is American, I do not know. But during the backstage show, it looked like the father is Korean. The other 2 people who were watching and encouraging from the back looked also very Korean as well.

Despite having precious child who is suffering from autism and blindness, the mother and family has helped Kodi develop his strength and the fact that he is able to stand strong like that is honorable!

When one of the judges hit the golden buzzer, there was a shower of gold colored confetti as the mother stood there in tears with overwhelming awe.

When the judge who pressed the golden buzzer came up to the stage to hug Kodi, the family members watching from the side also came in to hug Kodi and congratulate him. Then the rest of the judges came out and even Simon hugged Kodi and congratulated him sincerely. One of the female judges was in tears and the mother hugging – so many things that cannot be written down.

It is true! Having a normal looking face is also important. But suffering through autism and blindness, people like Kodi has overcome those difficulties and have achieved what would’ve been impossible. One of the judges said in the back of the stage, “you have changed the world!” and have again encouraged and congratulated Kodi again and again.
